This is a heartbreaking story. It seems that many teens, especially males, are obsessed with driving fast. (I have a 16-year old male teen, I know!) Parents need to sit down with their teenagers and share with them stories like this to help them understand that speed, immaturity, and inexperience can bring deadly results. They need to learn that life isn’t a Need for Speed video game.
When I was 18, I wrapped a car I had just purchased 30 minutes earlier, around a tree. I was driving too fast on a twisty road and my car slid sideways into the tree, spraying glass all over me. Miraculously, I was unhurt. Never had any medical treatment. My car was pretty messed up, though. The fact is, I was inexperienced and was driving way too fast for the turn. Some lessons you have to learn the hard way.
