A woman was critically injured and hospitalized after being involved in a drunk driver auto accident in Salt Lake City, Utah, early Thursday morning, March 26, 2009. According to Paul McHardy of KSL News, the woman was moving out of her downtown condo and was struck by a car just outside the Broadway Tower condos at 200 East and 300 South. The incident occurred just after midnight during a heavy snowfall. Salt Lake Police Lt. James Tracy said, “At the time of the accident it was kind of snowing sideways on them. I don’t know what visibility was like, but it was fairly poor.”
The woman received a head injury and many broken bones. Police arrested the driver of the vehicle on suspicion of DUI after he failed a field sobriety test. Fortunately, the woman is improving. Her condition was upgraded from critical to serious.
